| local.description.notes | Altar designed by D. F. Wrigley and made by Heinz Frank of Canberra. Black bean timber -- AU_ANUA_714_8_15b: Reredos screen: Copper panels patinated dark brown & green of varied character supported on stainless steel tubes. Panel colours vary from bright copper at the screen edge to very dark green behind the cross, having the right degree of colour contrast to the cross. Screen 14' wide x 10' high. Designed and made by Derek F. Wrigley, Canberra 1972. Bronze cross commissioned for the new St David's Church, Red Hill, Canberra. The Cross and two candlesticks were designed as a related group & have similar forms, colours & textures. The inside of the cross is patinated green, the outside is roughly textured by a grinding technique & the edges are polished to give emphasis to the forms. The vanes behind are brightly polished. The centre of the front boss is transparent purple acrylic which gives a beautiful light from certain angles. Designed & made by Derek F. Wrigley, Canberra 1972. Height of Cross 36" |
