Description

In 1857 King Mindon built the Kuthodaw Pagoda, modeled after one in Pagan, and there he has the entire Tripitaka inscribed on 729 stone slabs, enshrined in small temples. The correct version of the Tripitaka was determined at the Fifth Great Council of Buddhism, called by King Mindon.
