Abstract
Description
Present at both Harappa and Mohenjo-daro were granaries of great size, made of solid masonry divided into 27 blocks with platforms for the loading and unloading of grain, Providing the roof of the enclosure was a superstructure of timber to allow proper airing of the grain stored within, In providing the city with its own storehouses for grain, the people of Harappa and Mohenjo-daro could maintain themselves with a stable supply of wheat and corn throughout the year, Egypt also built such community granaries, these controlled by the pharaoh just as the Indus granaries were probably controlled by a high authority or group of leaders,
