dc.descriptionthe resemblance to ivory carving is seen in each detail of the Paravanatha Temple at Kahjuraho. Suppleness and grace are also characteristic features, especially in the statuettes like those visible at the foot of the door jamb. We notice, too, that one column is left relatively undecorated while the other has an elaborate capital. This is probably due to the fact that the temple was not quite finished in King Dhanga's reign, for the unfinished left column is similar to the right in basic form, and it is likely that the capital decorations were separately attached. The subjects for the carvings are the familiar Yaksha and Yakshi guardians in their appointed positions at the door, while all around the entrance small panels of lesser deities, some housed in lantern-like niches, are carved in the frame. Just inside the door we can see an image of one of the Jaina 'saviors' or Tirthankaras seated in the yogi-ascetic posture.
