Description

After the passing away of the Buddha, the First Council was held near Rajgir at this spot, just under the tower at the top of the hill. At that time, there was a large level area in front of the canvas at the top of the hill, but much of the site has been washed away. It is still a pilgrimage place of considerable importance.
