The same physical characteristics are shared by this Yaksha who has the further distinction of being attendant to a higher power: this is evidenced by the position of his broken arm which once held a fly-whisk, The high Mauryan polish shows up well on this example, Both the former and the present Yakshas are the earliest free-standing examples of Indian statuary on the monumental scale, Frontality is still very much present in both even though they are essentially conceived of in the round and have considerable weight and volume,
