Abstract
Description
Above : Spouted jug with mosaic inlay from E-anna precinct, treasure-house of layer IIIa/II, Uruk, hard stone, shell inlay, h : 15 cm (Iraq Museum)
libation jugs of stone like this were often made in several parts
here, spout, once inserted in neck, has disappeared, and been replaced by another found separately. Below : Bowl with mosaic inlay, from "Sin"-temple IV (proto-dynastic), Khafaje, stone with mother-of-pearl inlay, h : 11.1 cm (Iraq Museum)
although found in a rather later context, this bowl is more likely to belong to the preceding period, as do some other finds from the same spot.
