Abstract
Description
Surya, the Sun, is mounted on his chariot, drawn by two horses (instead of Seven [sic]). He shoots arrows and Brahma is his charioteer. Flying figures cling to the surrounding walls. As this scene is carved in a corner, the horses are cut at an angle of 90 degrees to the chariot. all the carvings and superstructures of the Kailasanatha were originally covered with stucco and painted, and still have the stucco stuck in the hollows of the carvings.
