Abstract

Description

The kettle ho (he), with spout and lid was used for pouring sacrificial wine. The lid is a human face with horns and is definitely not Chinese. The drawing of a serpent commences at the back of the head and winds around the vessel. On the sides are arms with claws in flat relief. It is rare to find demons of this kind with human faces depicted. -- 18.1 x 20.8 cm.
