Description
Dance of calm (lasya). The movement of crossed legs and bent knees (in ayata position) allows them to play on drum, flute and mridanga (barrel-shaped drum). The dancer raises a flower and holds her left hand in alapadma, the open hand signifying lotus, or mirror & other objects, qualities, or moods, in the context of the dance. -- Scene of dance and music (now in Sikar Museum Rajasthan). 961-973. 19 ins. high.
