Abstract

Group portrait of four young bakers and a small boy in a photographer's studio. All five wear white aprons and caps. The apron of the man on the right is held up by braces. The men wear white shirts, three with collars and one without. One baker holds a paddle with City Bakery written on it and the seated man has a double loaf of bread on his lap. The painted backdrop depicts drapery and plaster curlicues. The paddle is propped on a timber chair and the man on the right leans on an ornate stand, possibly a stand for pot plants .
