Description
Large pieces have been broken off this earliest known (except for fragment) Sumerian seal. Back & sides remain rough and undecorated. Hunter with spear and bow identical with "man in net skirt" feeding herds and sacrificing on cylinder seals, if we overlook that his skirt is smooth and not net. He is probably the city ruler, who appears e.g. inspecting prisoners on cylinder seals. -- Southeast of ziggurat, archaic level III, basalt, originally 1 m high.
