All were American with the exception of Lloyd Edmonds. Inscribed on verso by Lloyd Edmonds: 'In this group [portion missing] Negro poet , - who [portion missing] his poetry- name Langston Hughes, two American Italians, one Jewish American, one German and two Nordic Americans plus one Australian.
