Description

In wedding-cake fashion, row upon row of intricate sculpture forms the tower of the Durga Temple, Stylistically, it is highly developed and is remarkably organic in flavor owing to influence exerted upon it from clay sculpture of this region (Aihole), In the architectural details throughout the decoration, however, precision is not forgotten, and while the figures provide the fluid substance of movement within the compositions, the architectural details contribute the stabilizing features and organize the surface as a whole, depicted in the many scenes are Durga's conquests over demonic adversaries and scenes from her heavenly abode,
