Abstract

Dr Ben Selinger is concerned at the diametrically opposed ways in which science deals with science and how the courts deal with science. While not advocating basic changes in the court system he feels that scientific peers before it is presented to a lay court. Dr Selinger has been interested in the scientific aspects of law courts for some time and the Chamberlain trial has presented an opportunity to air his views. He has grave doubts about the methods used by the courts to evaluate such "well presented but erroneous" science. -- Introduction by Dr Doug Whalan. -- Recorded at University House, 19 April 1984.
