Description

Younger brother of Ban Gu (C-294) the historian, and one of the greatest generals in Chinese history. He distinguished himself in an expedition against the Xiongnu and was later sent to the King of Khotan, whom he persuaded to submit to China. He brought 50 kingdoms in Central Asia under Chinese suzerainty, and was made a Marquis. After spending 31 years in Central Asia he returned to China only to die.
