dc.descriptionMore direct links to the past are recognizable for the female deities than for the male, Fertility or mother-goddeess images from ancient times are more clearly related in form to Yakshis, Physical types are little different from place to place as well showing a practically universal formula of tremendously developed breasts, small waists, and broad hips, As monumental figures, the Yakshis appeared slightly later than their male counterparts, but like them, they too have characteristic attire and adornment, With few exceptions, the figure is clothed only below the waist with a long skirt tied with a girdle, Heavy jewelry adorns the arms, legs, and neck: beads are often strung in the headdress or hair, Universal dispersion in India is characteristic,en_AU
