| dc.description | This is a general view of Pagan, an ancient Buddhist capital which flourished from 1044 to 1287, situated about 120 miles south of modern Mandalay. It covers an area of sixteen square miles with hundreds of pagodas. The two Bhikkhus in the foreground were delegates to the World Conference of Buddhists at Rangoon in 1955.
