Abstract

Description

Radha the milkmaid was the sweetheart of Krishna, one of Vishnu's incarnations. The love story of Radha and Krishna, recounted in the Bhagavata Purana, was a celebrated Vaishnava theme. Radha is shown here writing a letter to her beloved. The cool palette and fine brushwork show Mughal influence.
