Abstract
Description
The entire city at Mohenjo-daro appears to have been completely inundated by flood waters three times in its history as three different sediment layers have been identified during excavations, After each flood, the people rebuilt the city almost exactly as it had been before, repeating the same style of building with the general improvements which come with experience in building, The lowest level, however, shows the best quality of fired-brick work even though the complexity of the house at this point is not as pronounced as in the upper stratifications, From this first level, archaeologists have found what appears to be a good many shops and small common dwellings while in comparison to the upper levels, no larger houses and civic buildings took over the scene, The structures shown here are of the 'shop' or common dwelling type and have been labeled 'workers' quarters' for the location, number and proximity to each other,
