Abstract
Description
The treatment here differs from Burmese in that here a kartri is used instead of a sword to cut off the hair. The lotus seat of the Bodhisattva is common to both places. The theme occurs in Sarnath sculpture but does not seem ot have been generally popular with the artists in India.
