Abstract
Description
This famous work combines history and religion in its commemoration of a notable feat of arms : the victory won by King Eannatum of Lagash over the neighbouring town of Umma. It comprises a summary of the course of the battle, running from top to bottom. At the same time, the two sides of the stele give complementary versions of what happened : on one, the exploits of the warriors
on the other, the decisive intervention of the gods.
on the other, the decisive intervention of the gods.
