Abstract
An advertisement printed in red and black that incorporates a cross-section drawing of the Sunbeam racing car. The caption includes: 'Major H.O.D. Segrave - one of England's foremost drivers - has astounded the world by driving the 24 - cylinder (dual engines) 1000 h.p. "Sunbeam" over a flying mile at Daytona Beach (U.S.A.) - at the phenomenal Speed of over 203 Miles per hour.' Segrave broke the world record 29 March 1927. The very large car was designed for record-breaking by Frenchman Louis Coatalen, and made in England of British parts by the Sunbeam Company. It has two "Matabele" engines, originally developed for aircraft and motor boats, located at the front and the back. Segrave reported that such was the enthusiasm in America for speed-record events that after his drive spectators took lumps from his tyres as souvenirs. The car was subsequently exhibited in the All British Exhibition which opened in Melbourne on 23 February 1928.
