Psychological distress and cardiovascular disease: An investigation into the epidemiological evidence

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death and a large contributor to disease burden globally. People with symptoms of depression and anxiety (referred to as psychological distress) have an elevated risk of developing CVD and poorer prognosis once it is present.
