Description: Excavations at Mohenjo-daro have uncovered a main street for about a half mile (undoubtedly the street is longer in total length) which measures thirty-three feet in breadth, easily able to accommodate several wheeled vehicles traveling up and down the thoroughfare, This main road was intersected by some similar ones and a few less wider streets ranging from twelve to nine feet in breadth, These divided the city into blocks which were, in turn, divided by narrow streets and lanes between houses, The largest of the narrow streets only reaches four feet wide, We are again reminded that there was no paving for the thoroughfares or lanes except for the main drainage canal running the length of the roads at the center [sic],
