In particular, using Lagrangian equations, we re-derive the known exact solutions of the CGLE. We also apply the technique to finding approximate solutions for pulsating solitons. Keywords: Approximation theory; Communication channels (information theory); Fiber lasers; Lagrange multipliers; Laser mode locking; Light transmission; Complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE); Dissipative solitons; Lagrangian approach; Pulsating solitons; Solitons Dissipative solitons; Fiber lasers; Lagrangian approachDissipative Solitons with a Lagrangian Approach200710.1016/j.yofte.2006.12.0012015-12-08
