In Vietnam, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in animal and human health settings poses a significant threat, but one that could be minimised by adopting a One Health approach to AMR surveillance. To advance understanding of the willingness and abilities of the human and animal health sectors to undertake investigations of AMR with a One Health approach, we explored the perceptions and experiences of those tasked with investigating AMR in Vietnam, and the benefits a multi-sectorial approach offers. This study received support from the Crawford Fund via the International Agriculture Students Awards Scholarship [Identification number NSW-816] and contributes to the SafePork project, project number LS/2016/143, funded by Australian Centre of International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH).application/pdfen-AU© The Author(s).http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Antibiotic resistanceAntimicrobial resistanceOne healthQualitative researchPork value chainThe challenges of investigating antimicrobial resistance in Vietnam - what benefits does a One Health approach offer the animal and human health sectors?202010.1186/s12889-020-8319-32020-11-02Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License
