This method is self consistently coupled to a static Poisson solver and it is shown how a self consistent coupling with general finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) Maxwell solvers can be realised. As numerical examples optical transmission through an empty LC-cell as well as through an array of gold nano-spheres embedded in LC-cell is analysed. Keywords: dynamic continuum theory; FDTD; Nematic liquid crystalAn explicit finite-difference method to calculate liquid crystal re-orientation dynamics201210.1063/1.47500972016-02-24
