At various intervals along a course paralleling Sullivan's Creek competitors eat one raw potato, one raw egg, one raw onion and a cold pie with butter and anchovies, wash it all down with a glass of tomato sauce, a jug of beer and four nips of miscellaneous spirits including peach and cherry brandy, then swim the creek and carry a beer keg over about 100 metres.
