Vongsaphay, as a gift from the Royal Laos Forest and Water Department. The Department of Forestry has participated in the Laos-Australian Reafforestation Project, established by the Department of Foreign Affairs at the request of the Laotian government five years ago. The elephant was accepted on behalf of the Univeristy by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor D. N. F.
