The exhibition entitled ‘Circa’ was a partnership with Utopia@Asialink, in association with Melbourne Festival. It was curated by Balla Star and Natalie King. Research contribution As part of the catalogue accompanying the exhibition an e-conversation was developed. This involved the exchange of a series of emails between Kallat in Mumbai and curators and academics in Australia, including Chaitanya Sambrani, an expert in contemporary Asian art. The focus was on Kallat’s explorations of time and the histories and ‘spatial energies’ of museums as his work in ‘Circa’ engaged with the architecture and objects in the Classical and Archaeology Gallery and other spaces. Research significance The exhibition and catalogue had widespread exposure during the Melbourne Festival. Dr Sambrani’s participation extended his standing in the field of contemporary Asian art, with a specialisation in Indian art. It also consolidated ANU’s reputation as a leader in the area of Asian art, relating to the work of Dr Caroline Turner and other eminent scholars.E-conversation with Jitish Kallat20132024-01-07
