Explicit calculations show that there are solutions for which two initially independent quantum fields evolve into an entangled state, even though their interaction occurs solely via a common classical gravitational field. Thus in contrast to recent suggestions, an observed generation of entanglement would not provide a definitive test of the nonclassical nature of gravity.11 pagesapplication/pdfen-AU© IOP Publishing Ltd 2019https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Entangling quantum fields via a classical gravitational interaction2019-09-0110.1088/1742-6596/1275/1/0120392020-01-19Content from this work may be used under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence.
