The total enthalpies of air flow are 3.82, 4.48, 5.16, and 6.45 MJ/kg and the equivalence ratio is 0.13. As the result, the flame in the cavity does not generate as the total enthalpy decreases. This flame characteristics is analysed by the ignition delay time and cavity residence time which previous researcher suggested. Low total enthalpy increases the ignition delay time, therefore, the cavity depth is not sufficient to generate the flame at low total enthalpy. In this paper, the appropriate cavity depths and lengths are suggested according to the total enthalpy. This work is a collaboration between research groups at the Australian National University, the University of New South Wales, ADFA and Seoul National University, supported by the second stage of the Brain Korea 21 and National Research Laboratory program (M10500000072–05J000007210).
