In particular, Australia has pushed for the creation of the AUKUS trilateral partnership for a nuclear-powered submarine program and defence-technology collaboration, while Japan is part of a trilateral agreement with the United Kingdom and Italy for joint production of a stealth fighter under the Global Combat Air Programme.
