Abstract

This chapter discusses the legal framework of Australia and the European Union through the lens of federalism. Drawing on comparative law methodologies, this chapter sets out similarities and differences in the legal structure of Australia and the EU with a view to evaluating the scope and rigour of the checks and balances on the exercise of power in each legal system.
