Abstract

The aim of this project is to study the regional phonetic variations in Australian English through fieldwork and acoustic measurements in order to demonstrate the degrees of phonological systematicity and regional correlation of the phonetic variants involved. The distant aim of this study is to help one to approach the question of the existence of regional dialects in Australian English through the demonstration of the existence of geographically distributed phonetic variations.
