Abstract

Description

Hevajra, a Tantric Buddhist deity, is usually represented in the Yab-Yum attitude as shown here. The worship of such deities became popular with the rise of Vajrayana Buddhism of the mediaeval period. According to this cult, the female principle was as important as its male counterpart. -- (Nahar Collection, Calcutta).
