The study of the palaeomagnetism of some kainozoic and palaeozoic rocks
Abstract
Chapter 1 Introduction - The study of paleomagnetism has for its objective the description of the behaviour of the Earth's magnetic fied in past ages. It may also be applied to certain economic problems. The results described in this thesis provide information about the geomagnetic field in Australia during the Kainozoic and Palaeozoic. Results are presented regarding the phenomena of polar wandering, reversals in the polarity of the field and its secular variation. There is also a chapter dealing with two problems in economic geophysics.
