Hu Shih and female emancipation in China
Abstract
The term "feminism" may be used to describe a world-wide cultural
and political movement to secure the complete equality of women with
men in the enjoyment of all human rights - moral, ethical, social,
political, educational, legal and economic. As a result of these trends,
in the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a revolution in the status
and education of women, which first swept Europe and the United States,
and then spread to Asia.
