Abstract

This volume, which marks the fiftieth anniversary of World Archaeology, is fittingly on the theme of celebrations and festivities. In keeping with the theme, this editorial has been co-authored by current members of the editorial board who, in addition to introducing the papers submitted within the volume, have added commentary on the subject of celebrations from their own temporal and geographical areas of expertise.
