Changing places: Indigenous population movement in the 1990s

Abstract

This paper presents selected measures of Indigenous population mobility using 1996 Census data and compares these with equivalent measures for the non-Indigenous population. There are two parts to the exercise. The first comprises an examination of relative propensities to move according to the age and sex distribution of movers, their labour force status and income distribution. The second is an analysis of the contribution of mobility to spatial redistribution of the Indigenous population. Show more
