Abstract

English translation of Polish poem by Wislawa Szymborska, with introductory essay (refereed). Abstract: 'Widok z ziarnkiem piasku' forcefully defamiliarizes a reflexive human way of thinking. My translation seeks to convey the idiomatic quality of Szymborska's voice without surrendering the surreal effect that her poem conjures.
