Abstract

The equivalency of quadratic solitons to solitons of a nonlocal Kerr medium was discussed. The analogy between parametric interaction in quadratic medium and nonlocal Kerr-type nonlinearities provided a physically intuitive theory for quadratic solitons which allows for deeper physical insight into their properties. The bound states of bright quadratic solitons were also elaborated.
