Abstract
This article examines the privatisation of nine government enterprises in Samoa with respect to the objectives set by government. Substantial revenues have been realised by the government, there is considerable improvement in the provision of services and products, and some reductions have been achieved in consumer price levels. Further, in the three enterprises studied in some depth?the Bank of Samoa, BOC Gases and Samoa Breweries Ltd?management practices have been overhauled in the search for efficiency and effectiveness. Improvements in the privatisation process are discussed.
