Abstract

This film, true to its title, documents the work of Australians in the jungles of New Guinea. The film follows the discoveries of a Government patrol and its journey to distant valleys where the local people had experienced little or no previous contact with Europeans. Antill's music is businesslike, his masterly professional skills well in evidence. The sequence of the musical materials and their arrangement into a chamber orchestral suite is the work of James McCarthy.
