Abstract

Domestic violence is complicated and a perennial problem in our society. It needs action that is ongoing, sustained and clever. Male violence is a huge issue in the United Kingdom but survivors continue to be unsure and have limited access to income. They need to be able to seek support and get legal protections in place however they need to pass a legal means test in order to stop a killer. If it was a flood, once the flood abates, defences will be put in instead of the sandbags. We know that domestic violence is a significant problem in this country and yet we fail, and continue to fail, to take sustainable action and to provide the necessary investments and supports and cultural changes that are needed to make inroads into male violence.
