WHO and the challenge of global health politics
Abstract
Margaret Chan does not have an easy job. Director-General of the World
Health Organization (WHO), Chan leads the organization at a time when its
very role in global health governance is coming into question, when new issues are emerging on the agenda, when donor funding for global health is stagnating or declining, and when a host of new actors play an increasingly large role in global health governance outside WHO’s oversight.
