Negotiating a Space in the Mosque: Women Claiming Religious Authority

Abstract

In Indonesia the main significance of the mosque has been as a locus for praying; however, there has been a continuous effort to revitalise its function, including on campuses, to mirror the role of the mosque in the time of the Prophet Muhammad in which it served as a community centre.
