Abstract

An essay is presented on the concept of client state and Japan's relation with the U.S. The author provides an overview of Japan's problematic relationship with China and the U.S., noting that Japan resisted becoming China's client state but embraced the role towards the U.S. The view on Japan's servility is noted in Magosaki Ukeru's book The Truth of Postwar (Japanese) History.
