Abstract
Contentious elections occur, with varying degrees of severity, around the world. This conclusion seeks to integrate the main findings and to test some core propositions about the risks of contentious elections. In particular, this chapter compares the dangers of contentious elections associated at macro-level with three sets of factors: the type of regime, the characteristics of electoral institutions, and structural social conditions.
